In this paper, a novel method for online handwritten Chinese character beautification is proposed. User-input trajectories captured from a mouse or a preasure-senselesss touchscreen are first simulated into paint-brush style using a speed-based calligraphic simulation algorithm. Then a template-based beautification method is applied to transfigure the overall architecture of the user-written character. On a preprocessing stage, the user-written character is matched to the template using stroke matching technique. Each stroke of the character is also modeled by a tri-unit stroke model.
