DEMOCRATIZING INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

The main stream perspectives of the international relations studies have described that hegemony is the center of international order. With the global public goods provided by the hegemonic powers, the international society enjoys the ordering stability under hegemonic leadership. In the 21st century, the United States is the unipolar hegemon within the international society. However, the international society is in the process of order adjustment. The first sign of the possible transformation is the eroding leadership of hegemonic power. American invasion of Iraq in the 2003 and the global financial crisis started from the United States in 2008 have demonstrated the declining leadership of hegemony order
