Activities and travel are therefore interlinked components in the overall pattern of daily behaviour. It follows that the characteristics of a single trip such as its timing, destination, mode, route can only be fully understood in relation to the activities in which the traveller participates during the day. The `Activity Approach ' acknowledges this insight as starting point for its analysis.
