The results of multiple angle ellipsometric measurements of As2S3, As2S3:CdJ2 and As2S3:NH4Cl glasses are presented. Surface optical properties of the glasses were found to be different from their bulk properties because a surface layer is formed due to the influence of the manufacturing process, surface treatment, and aging on near-surface part of the glasses. The ellisometrical method evaluates the refractive index values of bulk materials (nm) as well as characteristics of surface layer. Such relations are valid for the investigated glasses at 632.8 nm: nm(As2S3:CdJ2)> nm(As2S3)> nm(As2S3:NH4Cl).
