The purpose of this paper is to examine the main drivers behind the economic performance of the Asian business sector and to consider the extent to which this performance is sustainable. In meeting this aim the paper makes use of data from the Asian Wealth Index. The findings of the research suggest that the Asian business sector has a higher capacity for wealth creation than the UK economy as a whole, that growth in this sector is primarily driven by small and medium sized enterprises and that the Asian business sector is making a successful shift into higher technology and higher value added businesses.
