In this paper, we describe our experiences de-ploying BikeNet, an extensible mobile sensing sys-tem for cyclist experience mapping leveraging op-portunistic sensor networking principles and tech-niques. BikeNet represents a multifaceted sensing system and explores personal, bicycle, and environ-mental sensing using dynamically role-assigned bike area networking based on customized Moteiv Tmote Invent motes and sensor-enabled Nokia N80 mobile phones.
