This study examined how Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) climate affected levels of task and relationship conflict within work groups. Moderating effects were provided by the attributions the participants gave to the OCB activity. Participants were 141 employees of various fast-food restaurants in a western Canadian city. Each participant completed a questionnaire assessing OCB climate in the workgroup, to what they attributed the OCB, and the levels of conflict present in the work group. As predicted, OCB climate does affect levels of relationship and task conflict although, surprisingly in the same direction.
