This paper is organized into three main sections. The first section deals with the theoretical thought and the inter-rela-tionships between and among communication, population and development. Section two uses some basic data gathered from UNFPA Information, Education and Communication (IEC) proj-ect officers and managers to illustrate how population commu-nication is utilized or under-utilized to aid and facilitate sus-tainable development. The third section provides extensive conclusion, discussion and specific recommendations for the appropriate use of population communication projects to sup-port behavioural change and development.
