Abstract – University-based research centers often have integrated research, education, and industry collaboration objectives that challenge the traditional academic culture and structure. The Packaging Research Center (PRC), the National Science Foundation, and industry partners jointly developed a collaboration strategy to cooperatively advance the next-generation technologies, educate the next-generation of engineers, and transfer both to industry. This paper is a case study of the formation, implementation, and evolution of the industry-university-government collaboration strategy of the PRC; resulting outcomes and impacts of the PRC model are also discussed.
