This study aims to investigate Taiwanese English teachers ’ attitudes toward teaching speaking skills in the college EFL classroom. Research question investigates how generally the teachers ’ attitudes toward grammar teaching, oral approach, language drills and patterns, and cross-culture issue which related to speaking skills development, and major problems in the EFL classroom. To explore the teachers ’ attitudes toward teaching English speaking, one can see how teachers themselves are standing in the way of EFL achievement, and determine what obstacles still lay in the way of creating the kinds of learning environments which would be most helpful for the students.
