Session T1F Technical Training Over Internet- Virtual Labs in Leonardo da Vinci "CELGAS " e-Learning Project

Abstract- This paper discusses the problem of virtual lab capabilities in e-learning. Using combination of web conferencing and "virtual labs " capabilities- as a new quality distance learning teaching is now in preparation and will be included in course teaching to produces interactive, online simulations for the natural gas engineering studies. The activities are designed to enhance the existing curriculum and include online assessments. Special care is devoted to security problem between server and client computer. Several examples of virtual labs related to PVT thermody-namics, fluid flow, and natural gas well-testing, gas net-work flow are prepared and tested. The major challenge for 'CELGAS ' system is in managing the delicate balance between student collaboration and isolation. Student may be encouraged to collaborate and work with each other, simulating their exploration of the lab material.
