four red mudstone layers have yielded a rich, but low diversity ostracod fauna. The fauna almost exclusively consists of Darwinula, a stratigraphically long-ranging freshwater genus. Some other carapaces (largely indetermi-nate due to their poor preservation) resemble other freshwater forms. There are no indications at all, as far as the ostracod fauna is concerned, for any marine or lagoonal conditions. A permanent water, limnic (lacustrine) environ-ment is suggested for this site
