The paper is a revision of the analysis of Russian double object constructions (DOC) (1) as laid out in Bailyn (1995). According to the latter DOC in Russian has a structure wherein an indirect object (IO) is asymmetrically c-commanded by a direct object (DO). In other words the underlying order of the arguments is DO> IO. I oppose Bailyn’s view and argue for the contrary, i.e. that the arguments are generated in the order IO> DO. I furthermore provide a link between the derivation of DOC and Possessive Sentences (PossS) (2).
