The purpose of the study was to create a tool which would enable a process to correctly choose suppliers from a strategic point of view. Such a tool would be part of introducing a process for a purchasing department that would generate a correct structure of supplier. The tool developed is splitted into two parts. The first part classifies a homogeneous group of material that is to be purchased into one of four categories.
