Abstract: In this paper, a robust Genetic Algorithms (GAs) based fuzzy PID controller is proposed for the solution Load Frequency Control (LFC) problem in the deregulated power systems. In this method, the fuzzy PID controller is constructed as a set of control rules and gains of PID controller are tuned online from the knowledge base and the fuzzy inference. To reduce the fuzzy system effort, optimal fuzzy rule set is obtained automatically by GAs which is powerful optimum search technique. The salient advantage of this strategy is its high insensitivity to large load changes and disturbances in the presence of plant parameter variations and system nonlinearities under load following contract variations.
