Chili veinal mottle virus (CVMV) and pepper veinal mottle virus (PVMV) are two potyviruses that incite disease in Capsicum spp. At AVRDC, resistance to both CVMV and PVMV was detected in two accessions of C. annuum, 'Perennial HDV ' and 'PSP-11 ' that are indirectly of Indian origin. Genetic studies were conducted with the objective to understand the inheritance of resistance and allelism of parent genotypes, for each virus resistance. Findings indicated a likelihood that one dominant and one recessive gene confer resistance to CVMV, with interaction between loci. PSP-11 lacked the recessive gene.
