Add to ORKGAbstract:- Peer to peer applications presently con-tribute the main part to the traffic volume on broad-band access platforms to the Internet. The underly-ing distributed file sharing systems and data ex-change protocols supports new service types to be integrated in IP networks. This paper investigates the traffic profiles and im-plications of peer to peer applications for resource efficiency, monitoring, control and quality of ser-vice on the network layer of service provider plat-forms.
