This paper describes the evaluation of fuel optimal trajectories of a fuel cell powered vehicle along a given route. The optimization is based on the theory of Op-timal Control, which has been applied by means of a control-oriented model developed for this purpose. The latter is a reduced complexity version of a phys-ical model of the fuel cell vehicle, whose derivation is presented in the paper. The model has been val-idated with respect to experimental data measured on a test lightweight car under development at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
