MEASUREMENT AND FIELD SURVEY OF THERMAL ENVIRONMENT IN CENTRAL HEATING ROOMS

University dormitory is a kind of representative building in which central heating is supplied. The rooms are in simple types and the students ’ activity schedule is quite steady, which makes dormitory room to be an appropriate place for field survey. This research focused on a dormitory building with central heating supply in winter. During the investigation, the indoor environment parameters such as air temperature, radiation temperature, airflow velocity and relative humidity were measured. And the students were asked to fill a questionnaire about their thermal sensation and thermal comfort. Consequently, the heating condition in this building was evaluated. In the paper, the influence from different floors and different orientations on heating effect was discussed; and the difference between PMV (ISO7730) and TSV (Thermal Sensation Vote) was compared. Moreover the factors which made these differences, such as indoor and outdoor temperatures, sex, etc were studied. The result indicated that, in these central heating rooms, PMV was lower than TSV, and the neutral temperature of thermal sensation was 18.6°C, which was lower than the thermal neutral temperature in ASHRAE standard.
