This study was designed to examine the effects of appearance self esteem and self resemblance on attractiveness ratings of facial photographs. Participants (N=20, 70 % female) completed a questionnaire on appearance self esteem. Later, participants rated ten photographs where three were morphed with participants ’ faces at different percentages (25, 35, 50%). While participants found pictures with no resemblance significantly more attractive than the pictures with fifty percent resemblance (p =.004), there was no relationship between appearance self esteem and degree of resemblance. Future research could investigate the threshold where the ratings of attractiveness decrease possibly due to thoughts of incest or other unforeseen causes
