Summary

We present the distribution maps of some threatened lichens in the Valencian Community based on information from the lichen checklist of the region (Atienza & Segarra, 1999) and the Red list (Atienza & Segarra, 2000, 2002). We highlight in these maps the localities of 5 threatened lichens formerly included in the European Red List of Macrolichens (Serusiaux, 1989), and those of other eight Spanish endemics as well as lichens with populations mostly known from Spain. We have included updated ecological information and distributions for the taxa. The data are used to assess the conservation status and fragility of certain habitats in the Valencian Community, e.g. the gypsum soils, the coastal Quercus coccifera garrigues, the cold grassy plains, the Quercus suber, Q. ilex and Quercus faginea forests, that have been regarded as sites of special conservation interest or are listed as priority habitats for Conservation by the European Union
