Abstract A class of more extensive information system which is said to be the generalized information system (GIS) is presented, it contains complete information system, incomplete information system and multivalued information system. The rough set theory in the GIS will be applied in more extensive scope. Some concepts of set approximations, extension, core, reduction and discernibility function in the GIS are given. A theoretical method dealing with noise, uncertainty and imprecision in the GIS is discussed
