This paper reveals the prevalence of drug abuse among young people, the inherent problems associated with addiction and some reasons why teenagers are more vulnerable to addiction. Despite the known risks associated with addiction, people continue to abuse drugs. Drug abuse causes a lot of hazards among the people and the society. It results to gang formation, cultism, armed robbery, mental illness etc. Studies revealed that most of the drug addicts started smoking from their adolescence. As they grow older they seek new thrills and gradually go into hard drugs.
