Race Relations Diplomat, and Educator in the Age of Jim Crow. Often overlooked by scholars of philanthropy and practitioners in the area of advancement, black giving has a rich history. This paper will discuss the specific nature of black giving patterns and make recommendations to advancement and alumni staff on how to better include African Americans in the college and university giving process.
