Abstract — This letter proposes an Entropy-based methodology to reduce large network traffic data sets obtained by measure-ments over real networks. The proposed off-line approach, based on the Marginal Utility concept, reveals interesting results when applied to real data captured over real networks: to show its applicability, results obtained with traffic traces from a popular network game, Counter-Strike, are presented.
