Abstract Atemporary loss of normal circadian entrainment, such as that associ-ated with shift work and transmeridian travel, can result in an array of detrimen-tal symptoms, making rapid reentrainment of rhythmicity essential. While there is a wealth of literature examining the effects of stress on the entrained circadian system, less is known about the influence of stress on circadian function follow-ing a phase shift of the light:dark (LD) cycle.
