This paper concerns numerical methods for the modeling of ow and transport of contaminant in porous media. The numerical methods feature the mixed nite element method over triangles as a solver to the Darcy ow equation, and a conser-vative nite volume scheme for the concentration equation. The convective term is approximated with the aid of a Godunov scheme considered over the nite volume mesh dual to a triangular grid, whereas the diusion-dispersion term is discretized by piecewise linear conforming triangular nite elements. It is shown that the scheme satis es a discrete maximum principle.
