Hydrogen has been presented in the recent past as an ideal solution to many constraints related to the global energy problem both from a social and an environmental point of view. The potential role of hydrogen has been confused, and probably even today it is still partially confused, with the wider range of opportunities related to fuel cell technologies and to CO2 sequestration techniques, that both have their own significance in the power generation sector independently of an hydrogen based energy economy.
