Abstract—Image and video coding and processing play an important role in today’s multimedia applications, from em-bedded systems, to desktop computers and high end multi-media editing consoles. In addition, the emergence of new multicore architectures into both, general purpose computing and embedded domain, has resulted in a new set of problems regarding programming for efficient utilization of more and more processing cores. Streaming model of computation can provide huge performance benefits for intensive data parallel applications such as image and video coding since it allows clean separation of computation and communication.
