Student gestures are part of how students articulate their ideas, and can be of use to us in di-agnosing student thinking and forming effective pedagogical responses. This paper presents examples of gestures that occur in a conversation between students and a TA about a me-chanics homework problem, and analyzes one gesture that was particularly significant to the conversation
