BASIC OUTLINE

An examination of New Testament theology in terms of its historical and social environment. Various approaches or emphases may be taken, depending on the instructor and/or purpose of the class. Generally the major doctrinal themes of the New Testament are covered. Attention is given to Pentecostal and charismatic issues. OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of this course, the student should: 1. Understand the historical development of the discipline of NT theology and its relevance in the current theological and ecclesiastical milieu. 2. Navigate the various models for NT theology that have been proposed and have an educated opinion regarding the relative value of each. 3. Grasp the complexities of the theological task, especially those relating to method. 4. Be familiar with the theological emphases of the various NT writings accompanied by an understanding of their essential unity. 5. Have developed the basics skills in practicing and growing in a personal theology, both for the sake of personal devotion to Christ and for integration in ministry settings
