ii We designed and developed a portable Electronic Flash Card System. This portable study aid is meant to make learning and memorizing easier, cleaner, and more enjoyable compared to paper flash cards. The device uses a Microchip PIC18LF4682 MCU as the central controller for the subsystems. The generic Nokia LCD screen is used to display textual information in the form of menus, captions, and definitions. The definitions are stored on a San Disk memory card, which is directly interfaced with the PIC controller. The common SD memory card can store a large amount of material ranging from 16 MB to 8 GB. A Texas Instrument PCM1770 digital to analog converter is used to provide audio output capability. Although our project has come a long way, improvements are needed in accessing the SD card, outputting clear audio with the DAC, and implementing a stronger and user-friendly GUI to navigate the device. The improvements will be discussed along with the future potential in the Electronic Flash Card System
