The recently released Victorian Government White Paper, ‘Our Water Our Future: Securing Our Water Future Together ’ features water recycling as a key component for delivery of sustainable water resource management in the urban environment. There is a significant emphasis on substituting drinking water with alternative water resources. One way of achieving this objective is to promote the use of dual pipe networks in new residential developments to deliver recycled water for non-potable uses such as garden watering and toilet flushing. There are a number of residential dual pipe schemes operating in Australia and overseas. In NSW, the Rouse Hill development area has implemented a recycled water system for garden watering and toilet flushing....
