“This paper will provide the foundation needed for the collection of manuscripts to become a cornerstone in the literature dis-cussing the needs of students with disabilities seeking postsec-ondary education…. The paper strongly makes the point that development of increased self-determination skills and vocational goals can facilitate the successful transition from secondary to postsecondary education and then into the workforce. Policy statements and research findings support this contention…So little currently exists about transition of students into postsecondary education – this paper will contribute greatly to the national discussion. It strongly supports a student-directed method of increasing the success of students with disabilities.
