Encouraging Thinking in Hypertext Systems

“As We May Think ” introduced information overload as a real problem. This problem has become more serious in the years after the publication of the article: people have little time to think and reflect on the stream of information they are receiving. I propose to design, implement, and evaluate interfaces that will support users to engage in creative processes as they work to analyze and understand a collection of documents. More importantly, the system will encourage its users to engage in creative thinking. To this day, two diverse research groups have expressed interest in this project, which will allow me to provide a tool that that can be used in several disciplines.
