A new sbecies named Armigeres (Armigeres) azurini is described. The s male terminalia of the new species and three related species, Armigeres (A,) baisasi Stone and Thurman, Armigcres (A.) jolc~nsis (Ludlow), and Armigeres (A.) kuchingensis Edwards are illustrated for comparison. This species was already included in the senior author’s recent publication entitled “The Mosquito Fauna of the Philippines” ( 1971)) even before the formal description of the species. Among the mosquito collections from Mt. Makihng was a single male specimen which in general habitus appeared like Amigeres (Armiger’es) baismi Stone and Thurman. According to Stone and Thurman (1958) and Delfinado ( 1966)) a related species Armi-gem (Arbtigeres) kuchingensis Edwards may be separated from Arn2ageres (Rmigeres) butsasi by the subapical white band on sternite VII in the former species, the band being apical in the latter species. The new species has an apical white band on sternite VII. However,. axthrini could be reliably differentiated from the related species by careful examination of the structure of terminalia and other important taxonomic characters. The new species A. axur’ini (Fig. 4) differs distinctly in the shape of ter-minalia from those of A. buisasi (Fig. 1), A. jolaensis (Fig. 2)) and A. kuchingensis (Fig. 3).
