Self and other in the human motor system

Mirror matching has strong implications for the self-other distinction [6]. The purpose of the mirror system appears to be social because it represents others in order to understand their actions [4]. It also implies a shared representation [6, 7] between ourselves and others because the same neuronal representations are rubber-hand illusion. We then investigated how attribut-ing a viewed hand to the self or to another person influ-enced action observation (Figures 1 and 2; see also the Supplemental Experimental Procedures available on-line).
