Abstract—A method to generate non-white noise is proposed. Using this method, a model accurately describing the amplified spontaneous emission noise in systems with distributed Raman gain is presented. Numerical simulations for the amplified spon-taneous emission noise power spectrum were corroborated with experimental results. Index Terms—Amplified spontaneous emission, non-white noise, optical noise, Raman amplification. I
