Construction industry is one of the most dangerous industries, not only in the USA, but worldwide. One of the measures most used in the USA to track a company’s safety records is the Experience Modification Rate (EMR). The EMR is based on the company’s safety records (injury claims) from the past three (or four) years and is used to calculate the insurance premiums the companies have to pay for workers ’ compensation insurance. We used the EMR to predict the effect of safety efforts and procedures in construction industry in a longitudinal study
