In order to examine whether trace element concentration in the muscle of swordfish (Xiphias gladius) and blue shark (Prionace glauca) varies geographically, individuals of both species were sampled in the Central North Atlantic (CNA), near Azores, and in the Central Equatorial Atlantic (CEA). Besides collecting muscle samples, fork length (FL) and lower-jaw-fork-length (LJFL) were measured for each shark and swordfish, respectively. Muscle samples were analysed for iron and zinc, and their concentrations were examined as a function of the length of the specimens.
