This paper describes how to introduce some contemporary teaching and learning strategies in organic chemistry teaching in order to make teaching and learning more efficient and practical. The strategies including case studies, problem based learning, concept mapping and online learning are discussed in detail. All these approaches can help students learn actively as well as improve their lifelong learning skills. We hope these methods can change teacher-centred teaching into student-centred teaching and learning actively
