Seismic motions may cause the liquefaction of saturated loose sandy soils. The existence of saturated sandy soils in Caspian Sea beaches and the high-underground water level close to the ground surface makes the region susceptible for liquefaction phenomenon under earthquake effects. According to earthquake background and existence of large and small faults in this region, it is essential to find a solution to prevent the liquefaction phenomenon or to reduce its dangerous effects under seismic motions.
