Abstract Vitamin D deficiency is now being recognized as one of the most common medical conditions worldwide. The consequences of vitamin D deficiency include poor bone development and health as well as increased risk of many chronic diseases including type I diabetes; rheuma-toid arthritis; Crohn’s disease; multiple sclerosis; heart disease; stroke; infectious diseases; as well as increased risk of dying of many deadly cancers including colon, prostate, and breast.
