Evaluating e-Learning & Distance Learning Functionality (The Greek Experience)

This paper presents an evaluation procedure for the educational material, written exercises and face-to-face meetings in the module ‘Educational Research ’ in the Hellenic Open University (H.O.U.). The study gives us helpful results for the educational services improvement, according to the students ’ perceptions and needs. The H.O.U. was founded in 1997. Since Greek students have no experience in e-Learning and Distance Education Institutions, it is important to find out if they are positively disposed towards adopting new ways and approaches in order to achieve educational goals. The systematic procedure of the data collection and interpretation that concerns particular system components is aiming at the feedback of the effort with useful information. By identifying the needs of Greek distance learners of this course, we pointed out the necessity to recreate the printed material and increase the number of face-to-face meetings with academic staff
