The correction of phase error in Fourier transform spectro-scopy is discussed. Phase error is corrected by mult iplying the inverse transform of the measured interferogram by e- • where +(~) is the phase error in the spectrum. This error is determined from a low-resolut ion, two-sided interferogram. I t is absolutely essential that the trunca-t ion-apodization function which mult ip l ies the interfero-gram have an even part which is symmetric about the x=O posit ion. I f this function is not properly located, large errors in the corrected spectrum can occur. Key words: Fourier transform spectroscopy, phase correc-t ion, interferometry. I
