Abstract Some properties of internally chain transitive sets for continuous maps in metric spaces are presented. Applications are made to attractivity, convergence, strong repellors, uniform persistence and permanence. A result of Schreiber on robust perma-nence is improved. Key words and phrases: Chain transitive sets, asymptotic pseudo-orbits, attractors, strong repellors, uniform persistence, robust permanence. AMS subject classifications: 34C35, 54H20, 58F12
