The Web Service Modeling Ontology (WSMO) provides the concep-tual framework for semantically describing web services and their spe-cific properties. Based on WSMO the Web Service Modeling Language (WSML) implements this conceptual framework in a formal language for annotating web services with semantic information. In this document we present and discuss how semantic descriptions of web services based on WSMO and WSML can be exploited for various tasks in the design and dynamical composition of web-service-based software-systems.
