Abstract — The detailed velocity measurements have been performed in turbulent boundary layer developing on a rotating disk opposed to a turbulent jet impinging perpendicularly onto it. The influence of rotation is remarkable in both the skew in mean flow and the centrifugal force. A nondimensional parameter is proposed, that correlates these two effects and classifies the velocity field. The modification of the turbulence structure due to the disk rotation is most obviously seen in the increase in the normal stress component in tangential direction. The increases in the other stress components are found to be indirect, i.e., the redistribution from the tangential normal stress is the source of the modification in turbulence structure. 1
