This paper will demonstrate some of the data visualization and signal processing capabilities available with the MLAB mathematical modeling computer program. These capabilities will be applied in consideration of solar sunspot data. As periods of intense sunspot activity may a®ect many terrestial phenomena including climate, quality of radio communications, occurrence of auroras, and overloads in public utility electrical power grids, understanding and predicting sunspot activity is of interest
