Abstract. The volume of data is tremendous, the nature of data changes constantly, and the utilities never seem to be up to the job. Virtualization is a general term that can apply to many different technologies. Storage systems, databases and networks could all be virtualized. A few details of different virtualization approaches is presented in this article, in order to determine the best method for a particular workload. The goals and benefits of virtual-ization for a SME specified also. The article points out some issues about virtual server backup: definition, tradi-tional tactics, implementing problems and future.
